President-elect Donald Trump says he will nominate former U.S. Representative Doug Collins as Veterans Affairs secretary.
The Associated Press reported the nomination Thursday evening. Collins is an Air Force reservist and was Georgia's 9th District U.S. Congressman from 2013 to 2021.
Collins, a Gainesville native and North Hall High School and North Georgia College and State University graduate, was previously a pastor and attorney in Gainesville before launching his political career. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a chaplain.
