A Martin man was arrested, and two suspects remain at large following a vehicle pursuit-turned car theft in Lumpkin County on Nov. 1.
The Lumpkin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Tuesday deputies were called to the University Heights apartment complex in Dahlonega just after 1 a.m. to reports of men dressed in all black and pulling handles of vehicles in the parking lot.
Deputies reportedly observed a silver Hyundai car traveling on Morrisson Moore Pkwy and attempted to stop the vehicle. The car did not stop, which led to a pursuit. During the chase, the Hyundai wrecked along Town Creek Rd where all suspects fled on foot.
Later that morning, the individuals involved in the chase allegedly stole a Toyota 4-Runner from Garnet School Rd at 7:30 a.m.. They once again fled from law enforcemnt at that loaction.
When deputies responded to the scene of the alleged theft, they made contact with Christian Sieverding, 18, who was identified as one of the suspects in the Hyundai. Sieverding was in custody as of last report, with warrants saught for two other male suspects.
LCSO said as of Nov. 12, over 20 vehicles are reported to have been broken into on the night of Oct. 31 and the morning on Nov.1.
