ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 11, 2024--
CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan serving more than 440,000 Georgians, announced an enhanced benefits package for its Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan (DSNP). The plan is designed to help members lead healthier, more fulfilling lives by offering critical support across a variety of health and wellness needs.
In 2021, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services estimated that approximately 295,000 Georgians were dual eligible due to their age, income level or specific health needs. However, only about 64% were enrolled in a DSNP, leaving nearly 100,000 Georgians potentially missing out on significant savings and valuable health benefits.
CareSource Dual Advantage (HMO-DSNP) provides comprehensive health coverage for Georgians eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid and aims to reach more of these individuals to ensure they benefit from the available resources. For 2025, CareSource introduced an increased HealthyBenefits+ Allowance, offering members $215 each month to spend on eligible items such as:
- Food and groceries
- Over-the-Counter items
- Personal care products
- Pet care items
- Utilities assistance
- Vision, dental and hearing services
“Many dual eligible Georgians are unaware of the full scope of benefits available to them,” said Dr. Minh Nguyen, medical director for CareSource Georgia. “With these expanded benefits, our plan aims to address the social determinants of health and reach those who need it most. We work with our strong network of providers to offer access to essential services like dental, vision and hearing care, while ensuring our members can save more and live healthier lives.”
CareSource Dual Advantage (HMO-DSNP) is $0 premium plan, meaning members do not pay a monthly premium for coverage. Members also have no copays for services, including hospital visits, doctor appointments, behavioral health care, home health care and more. These extra benefits provide members with greater access to the care they need without financial strain.
Additional benefits of the plan include:
- Comprehensive vision, dental and hearing coverage:
- Vision care: Free comprehensive eye exams and upgraded eyewear allowances.
- Hearing services: Free hearing aids and hearing exams.
- Dental services: Comprehensive coverage for preventive, restorative and major dental procedures.
- Transportation services:
- No-cost transportation to doctor appointments, pharmacies, grocery stores, gyms and fitness centers.
- Fitness benefits:
- Free memberships to local fitness centers and home fitness kits, encouraging members to stay active and maintain their health.
Open enrollment for Medicare Advantage plans, including CareSource Dual Advantage (HMO-DSNP), is Oct. 15 – Dec. 7. Eligible individuals can enroll or make changes to their health care plans during this period.
