ATHENS, Ga. — Flowery Branch secured the final playoff spot from Region 8-4A with a 21-7 road win over Cedar Shoals on Friday.
The Falcons special teams struck again against Jaguars when Ryland Garrison blocked a punt and Griffin Harper scooped it up at the Cedar Shoals 30 and returned it for a touchdown and a 7-0 lead early in the second quarter. It stayed that way until the third.
After the Jaguars had tied the score, Riley Bourrie scrambled for a 24-yard TD run to give Branch a 14-7 lead. Harper would seal it for the Falcons with a 7-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
Flowery Branch (4-6, 3-3 Region 8-4A) won three of its last four games to get back into the playoffs for a second straight season and the seventh time in the last eight years overall.
