FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Cherokee Bluff rushed out to a 21-0 lead early in the first half and rolled to a 52-26 win over East Hall at home on Friday.
With the win and Jefferson's loss to Oconee County, the Bears (9-1, 4-1 Region 8-3A) get the No. 2 seed out of Region 8-3A on a tiebreaker.
Bears’ quarterback Brooks Brien connected with two different receivers for touchdown passes over 30 yards throughout the game, including twice to Landon Kemp, a 34-yard and a 52-yard pass.
Brien was 14 of 17 for 257 yards and four TD passes.
Kemp hauled in five passes for 131 yards and three touchdowns.
Later in the game, he found KT Thompson on a 37-yard pass for a 38-14 lead with 7:21 to go. He finished with four catches for 79 yards and a TD.
Jackson Pirkle led the Bears’ rushing attack with 17 carries for 120 yards and two touchdowns, including an 8-yard run and a 13-yard run. His second TD pushed the Bears’ lead to 45-14.
Bluff totaled 454 yards of offense, 197 on the ground and 257 through the air.
East Hall quarterback Jamarcus Harrison was 18 of 27 for 230 yards and two TD passes, including a 44-yard strike with 2:12 left in the game.
East Hall (4-6, 1-4 Region 8-3A) had 354 yards of offense, 124 rushing and 230 passing.
