Habersham County to seek replacement for current County Manager

The search is underway in Habersham County to find a successor for their current County Manager,who is stepping down from the post at year's end.

Habersham County Manager Alicia Vaughn has resigned effective Dec. 31, 2024, acccording to a recent press release. Vaughn submitted her resignation during closed session near the end of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners meeting Monday night, September 16.  Up to 30 candidates have reportedly submitting applications for consideration to be Habersham County's next manager, as of this week.

In an origianl Habersham County Government press release, Vaughn was quoted as saying, “This is the hardest professional decision I have ever made. I love Habersham County and planned to spend the rest of my career here, but feel the time is right for me to make this move.”  

Vaughn has asked for, and will reportedly be receiving a severance package upon her departure, in accordance with her most recent contract agreement with Habersham County's Commissioners and government. Specifics on her agreement have not officially been publicly released by county authorities.
