DALTON, Ga. — Union County remained in fourth place in Region 7-2A with a 35-20 win over Coahulla Creek on Friday night on the road.
The Panthers (4-4, 4-2 Region 7-AA) pounded out 240 yards on the ground behind Connor Schutneck (145 yards. 2 TD), Bentley Rich (65 yards) and Maddox Young. The defense forced three turnovers, including a pick-6 by Darren Patterson.
Young was all over the field. He had a 45-yard kickoff return, a 45-yard TD catch, and produced 165 all-purpose yards for the game.
Patterson's pick-6 gave Union County a 35-7 lead early in the fourth quarter before the Colts (1-7, 1-5 Region 7-AA) scored a pair of late touchdowns to make it closer.
Union County next will play host to Sonoraville looking to stay in the playoff race.
