Jackson EMC announced Wednesday that it will dispatch additional crews to assist in efforts to restore damages caused by Hurricane Helene.
The cooperative said 48 crew members have been assisting since Sept. 29, but 30 more crew members will be deployed throughout the week to support Rayle EMC in Washington, Ga., Jefferson Energy Cooperative in Wrens, Ga. and Washington EMC in Sandersville, Ga. The crew members will replace some that are already in the field.
“This storm has been one of the most challenging we’ve faced in Georgia, and while we were fortunate to avoid its full impact, we are fully committed to supporting our fellow cooperatives as they work to restore power,” Tommy Parker, vice president of operations said in a release. “We understand the challenges they face and are proud to provide our crews and equipment during this critical time. Cooperatives work together to help each other, and we’re dedicated to seeing this restoration through. That’s the essence of cooperation among cooperatives—it’s simply what we do.”
Officials with Jackson EMC shared the latest updates from the areas crews are assisting, reporting that efforts with Rayle EMC are almost complete. Two Jackson EMC crews will be replaced this week with the area experiencing 1,338 outages as of Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, Jefferson Energy is experiencing 8,731 outages. Jackson EMC also plans to switch out two crews to aid Jefferson Energy with its efforts.
