A Gainesville man was arrested on aggravated battery charges under the Family Violence Act and got into a wreck following a Sunday evening incident.
According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), the incident occurred in the Sardis area when 27-year-old Francisco Dominguez hit a 57-year-old male victim in an alcohol induced state.
The victim’s eyes were reportedly swollen shut and suffered a “partially dismembered big toe” from the battery that occurred at Dominguez's residence at around 9 p.m. on Fran Mar Drive.
The victim went to a nearby residence for help and was transported to a hospital for treatment by Hall County Fire Rescue (HCFR).
That’s when Dominguez left the scene in his vehicle according to officials.
A Georgia State Patrol (GSP) trooper was dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on EE Butler Parkway at the intersection of I-985 Sunday night at around 9:30 p.m.
GSP officials say that Dominguez’s Kia Sorento failed to obey a traffic signal and entered the intersection, hitting 27-year-old Fabian Abarca Fraile’s Honda Accord.
Abarca Fraile had a complaint of injury but was not transported from the scene, but his passenger — 25-year-old Elizabeth Trujillo of Alto — was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Two children in the Honda were transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment.
Dominguez allegedly fled the scene but was located by Hall County officials near the crash scene. He was taken into custody and charged with DUI, hit and run/leaving the scene of an accident with injury, failure to obey a traffic device, and two counts of serious injury by motor vehicle.
He is being held at the Hall County Jail without bond.
