The Rabun County-Commerce game didn't dissapoint. There was almost 1,000 yards of combined offense, most of which came on the ground. However, The Tigers held off the Wildcats in the back-and-forth battle at Ray Lamb Field to highlight Week 8.

Buford continued the train trip around the region, knocking off Collins Hill. Gainesville rolled past Seckinger. Cherokee Bluff pushed over West Hall, and Jefferson handled business against Monroe Area.

Week 9 has the opportunity to be the biggest yet, and we'll have three key region contests on the radio: Cherokee Bluff hosts Monroe Area, GAC travels to North Hall, and Gainesville hosts No. 1 Milton.

Three games will be on the Jacobs Media airwaves and streaming live on AccessWDUN.com. To follow scores and more this week, follow our Friday Game Night X for scores, stories and highlights.

Monroe Area at Cherokee Bluff— Cherokee Bluff's quest for the region title will be decided over the next three weeks, and it all starts this week. Although Monroe Area's title hopes were greatly dimensioned with the loss to Jefferson, they're still in the hunt with only one loss. However, Bluff can remain on track and stay undefeated with a win at Yonah Field on Friday night. The Canes' offense is potent, and so is Bluff's. But the Bears defense has given up the fewest points in the region. Can Monroe Area pierce the stingy Bears' defense is the question. As for the Bears offense, they'll score some points against a defense that has given up almost 40 points per game over the last three. The game can be heard live on WDUN AM 550 (Click to listen live).

GAC at North HallHall County schools are 1-16 all-time against Greater Atlanta Christian in the regular season. Can North Hall break that streak? The Trojans are 0-5 in the series and haven't been closer than 21 points in those five meetings, including a 33-0 loss to the Spartans in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs in 2020. The winner takes sole possession of first place in the Region 6-3A standings and takes another huge step toward securing a top-8 seed in the playoffs next month. However, it won't be easy. The Spartans are back healthy, scoring almost 30 ppg and giving up 9.7 ppg in region play. Can North Hall slow the Spartans down enough to get the win?  The game can be heard live on FM 102.9 WDUN (Click to listen live).

Milton at Gainesville—Gainesville's first game against a No. 1 team this season didn't go as planned. Class 6A's Carrollton routed Big Red in the end, 45-16. They'll face what many folks in the media say is the best team in the state at City Park on Friday. Will it be Carrollton 2.0? That's what everybody wants to know. Although the two teams can score, this game may come down to defense. The Eagles are giving up under 10 ppg, while the Red Elephants yield just 10.8. This could be one of the history books, but if Gainesville allows the Eagles to get in their heads, it could be another long night for Big Red. The game can be heard live on FM 94.5 The Lake (Click to listen live).
