The Gwinnett County Police Department is working to identify two suspects that reportedly stole a dog from a Duluth apartment complex after posing as the dog’s owners.
Authorities were called to the Sugarloaf Summit Apartments near Duluth Highway on Sept. 9, where the dog’s owner told officers their five-year old Shihpoo was stolen. The dog reportedly got loose from the owner’s ground floor patio. The dog then walked around the complex until a witness found the dog and notified the building through the Ring app.
The witness told authorities two women identified the dog as “Coco”. The women then took the dog from the witness and left in a blue SUV.
The dog is described as white, black, and gray, and weighs approximately five pounds. The dog’s real name is Lucy.
The suspects in the case were seen in surveillance footage at the apartment complex leaving in what authorities believe is a Cadillac with no tag. GCPD detectives described the suspects as younger black females. One of the suspects had braces.
