GAINESVILLE, Ga. – East Forsyth scored the first four touchdowns of the game Friday night as the Broncos knocked off Cedar Shoals, 49-21.
JD Sexton got the Broncos on the board early in the second quarter with a 4-yard run before DJ Haskell doubled the East Forsyth lead four minutes later with a 4-yard rushing score of his own. With just under a minute left in the first half, Haskell bursted for a 64-yard rushing score to take a 21-0 lead into the break.
East Forsyth kept the scoring going on the opening drive in the second half as Peyton Grimes found Tripp Ferguson for a 40-yard pitch-and-catch to take a 28-0 lead. After Cedar Shoals trimmed the lead all the way down to 28-21, Troy Hoover snatched some momentum back midway through the fourth quarter to take a 35-21 lead on a 1-yard plunge. Two minutes later, Haskell had his third rushing score of the night on an 11-yard run before finishing the night with a 30-yard rushing touchdown to get to the final score.
East Forsyth will play at Walnut Grove on Thursday night for their Week 9 matchup.
