A Gainesville man was arrested Sunday following an alleged sexual battery incident at the Oakwood Walmart store.
According to Sgt. Stewart Webb with the Oakwood Police Department, the alleged incident happened on Jan. 14 between 6 and 7 a.m. Oakwood police responded to the store on Jan. 21 "in reference to a belated call," Webb said.
The victim in the case, who works at the store, told police she observed Hershel Wayne Holcomb, 71, wandering around the store and approached him to see if he needed help. Holcomb refused her assistance, and then allegedly began following her around the store while she was working.
Holcomb allegedly made several sexual innuendos and eventually hugged the victim without her permission. Sgt. Webb said Holcomb then allegedly stepped back and "started to breathe heavily." This made the victim uncomfortable.
"Holcomb then hugged her a second time intentionally gyrating his crotch against her leg and made additional sexual innuendoes," Webb said.
Holcomb was arrested and booked at the Hall County Jail. He has since been released on a $3,500 bond.
