Girls basketball: Banks County runs win streak to 9; Buford, Chestatee, LCA, Dawson, Rabun win

HOMER, Ga. — Banks County ran its win streak to nine straight and stayed unbeaten in Region 8-2A with a dominating 78-22 win over East Jackson on Friday at home.

The Class 2A fifth-ranked Lady Leopards (16-4, 5-0 Region 8-2A) trailed just once, at 3-0, to open the game. They responded with a 22-4 run into the second quarter and then closed out the half with a 22-6 run for the big lead.

Banks County did not let up in the third quarter. The Lady Leopards held the Lady Eagles (6-12, 0-5 Region 8-2A) scoreless in the third while pushing their lead to 68-13 heading into the fourth quarter.

Addison Hoard led nine different Banks County scorers with 17 points. Reese Murphy had 13, and Carley Seagars and Emmie Chitwood each added 10 points for the Lady Leopards.

Ela Kate Shedd had 9 points, Maggie Irvin 8 points, and Ryleigh Murphy 7 points for Banks County.

East Jackson, which dropped its fifth straight game, was paced by Leeasha Collins with 9 points.

Every game on the schedule on Friday, except the East Hall boys in the Alaska Airlines Classic, involves region play.


CHESTATEE 59, 
NORTH HALL 20

The Lady War Eagles (16-4, 7-0 Region 8-4A North) jumped out to a 16-6 first-quarter lead and took a 33-10 lead into the locker room at the half en route to the blowout win over rival North Hall (11-6, 4-3 Region 8-4A North) on the road Friday. 

Chestatee held the North Hall to four points in the third quarter to take a commanding 50-14 advantage. 

Riley Black scored a game-high 27 points and pulled 11 rebounds to lead the Lady War Eagles. Caroline Bull added 17 points in the win. 


BUFORD 77,
DACULA 29

DACULA, Ga. — The Buford girls led 50-8 at the half en route to a 77-29 blowout win over Dacula on the road Friday. 

Ava Grace Watson led the Lady Wolves with 22 points. Lydia Ledford added 21, and Emory Fields netted 12.


LANIER CHRISTIAN 62,
KILLIAN HILL CHRISTIAN 4

Adelyn Gough and Elliana Clark scored nine points each to lead the Lady Lightning past Killian Hill on Friday. 

Jia Thapar added eight points, and Emma Flowers and Ellie Roberts had seven each.  Moriah Clark, Faith Bolton and Meav Fouts all chipped in six points in the LCA (14-7, 4-0 GAPPS) win. 


DAWSON COUNTY 63
WEST HALL 15

Abby Samples-Slaton scored 14 points to lead the Lady Tigers to the win over West Hall at home. 

The Lady Tigers had 10 players in the scoring column, including Morgan Chester with 8 points and Kindra Coker, Heather Burt, Maddie Suita, and Jaci Wilson with six points each. 

Summer Orlick led West Hall with six points. 


RABUN COUNTY 64,
ELBERT COUNTY 34

Lucy Hood scored 20 points, and Ellie Southards had 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Wildcats past Elbert County on Friday.

Mili Watts added 13 points in the win.
