GAINESVILLE, Ga. — The Jackson County boys snapped a two-game losing streak with a 65-52 win over Gilmer on Monday in the MLK Showcase at Lakeview Academy.
EJ Heath led the Panthers (8-9) with 20 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Brice Rogers added 9 points and 5 rebounds while RJ Knapp and Adam Thomas each scored 8 points.
Knapp had 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Thomas had 6 rebounds for Jackson County. Jacob Lee chipped in with 7 points and 4 assists.
Jackson County will jump back into Region 8-6A play on Tuesday, playing host to Gainesville in a critical showdown.

Mekhi Barber and Tayden Ware each scored 24 points to lead the Lions to a win at home in the MLK Showcase.
Lakeview (14-4) opened the game with a 27-15 first quarter and then blew the game open with a 27-9 second quarter. The Lions took a 75-34 lead into the fourth quarter.
Eli Mayfield had 9 points and Keelan Harper 8 points for Lakeview.
The Lions will travel to George Walton on Wednesday.

For the second time this season the Vikings dropped a Region 8-4A game in overtime at home.
In the crossover matchup, East Hall (10-6, 5-1 Region 8-4A North) led by as many as 17 at one point but could not hold on. The Vikings missed 11 free throws for the game.
Jamarcus Harrison led East Hall with 18 points. Chasen Jones and Bray Langston each had 15 points and Chris Alford added 11 points for the Vikings.
Robert Mack paced Cedar Shoals (8-8, 0-4 Region 8-4A South) with 14 points.
