It will be one of the busiest and most important nights of the season on Tuesday, with 42 games involving 21 northeast Georgia area schools -- all-important region contests -- scheduled.
Games from all eight GHSA regions housing area schools -- from Region 8-7A down to Region 8-A Divisions 2 and GAPPS -- could have huge impacts as we enter the final month of the regular season.
One of the biggest showdowns will have the Class A D1 third-ranked Athens Christian girls playing host to No. 4 Rabun County in Region 8-A D1. Another ranked girls' showdown has Class 4A No. 7 Chestatee heading to No. 10 North Oconee in a Region 8-4A crossover battle.
On the boy's side of things, Cherokee Bluff, which fell out of Sandy's Spiel rankings this week, plays host to No. 6 Walnut Grove in Region 8-4A. Buford and Collins Hill will tangle for first place in Region 8-7A at The Buford Arena.
In Region 8-6A on the boy's side, Gainesville has won three straight and will travel to Jackson County with the Red Elephants looking to keep pace with Habersham Central, who plays host to Lanier. Both Gainesville and Habersham Central are tied for second, just one game behind No. 2 Shiloh in the standings.
