Fire investigators are trying to determine what triggered a structure in Banks County early Monday morning that destroyed a detached garage.
A release from Banks County Fire Chief Steve Nichols says their units and Jackson County Fire Services were called to a structure blaze at 116 Brown Circle in Homer just after 5:15 a.m.
Upon arrival crews found a fully involved structure fire in a large detached garage. Two animals on the property succumbed to the fire, but no residents were hurt. The fire was contained and doused within a two hour period.
Chief Nichols says the structure is a total loss, and cause for the fire is under investigation while initial details lead officials to think the fire was accidental.
