A Talmo man is facing an extensive list of charges following a Wednesday night vehicle pursuit that began in northeastern Hall County on Ga. 365.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said a deputy clocked Erasmo Javier Acosta, 25, traveling at about 90 mph southbound on 365 near Tribble Gap Road at about 6:30 p.m. The vehicle also failed to maintain its lane of travel while driving at that speed.

The Hall County deputy attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, which did initially stop. But, when the deputy got out of his patrol car, Acosta sped away.

The deputy then chased after Acosta. The pursuit continued at escalating speeds past Lula Road where Acosta allegedly drove into the gore of the highway and ran a red light. The Georgia State Patrol took over the pursuit as Acosta drove past Cagle Road.

Troopers followed Acosta onto I-985 southbound where Acosta proceeded to turn off his car's headlights.

"Troopers followed Acosta to Jesse Jewell Parkway, then East Crescent Drive, eventually stopping the offender on East Ridge Road," the sheriff's office said in a press release.

Acosta was arrested at that location on East Ridge Road by the Hall County Sheriff's Office and charged with the following:

Additionally, Acosta also had an outstanding probation warrant from Hall County and an arrest warrant from another state.

The Georgia State Patrol also filed charges against Acosta. AccessWDUN has reached out to the state patrol for more information.
