Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Chairman and District 2 Commissioner Alfred John has been appointed to the roles of Atlanta Regional Commission Board Secretary and Chairman of the ARC's Ethics Committee.

During the Atlanta Regional Commission's first board meeting of 2024 on Wednesday, John was appointed to the posts by ARC Board Chairman Andre Dickens (City of Atlanta Mayor).

Along with Dickens and John, the appointed ARC Board officers consist of Vice Chair Michael Caldwell (City of Woodstock Mayor) and Treasurer Nicole Hendrickson (Gwinnett County Commission Chair).

John said in a Forsyth County press release, "In both roles, I aim to help position Forsyth County, and the region, in the best position possible to win infrastructure and other grants as we continue making our community Georgia’s finest."

He added, “I am humbled to be a part of the committee’s leadership to represent our community outside of our county borders while progressing the region’s key initiatives."

The ARC Board consists of the county commission chair from each of the 11 member counties, the mayor and a council member from the city of Atlanta, and one mayor from each of the 11 counties, along with 15 citizen members selected by the board’s elected officials, including Forsyth County representative Tom Meinhart.
