The Hall County School District announced Thursday afternoon the winners of its 2024 Scripps Spelling Bee.

The event was held Wednesday at the performing arts center at Johnson High School.

Murphy Whitlow, a seventh grader from North Hall Middle School, won the spelling bee in eleven rounds with the correct spelling of "Ceremonial."

Second place went to Carter Satterfield, a sixth grader at North Hall Middle School.

Finally, Christopher Inman, a seventh grader from DaVinci Academy at South Hall Middle School, earned an alternate position.

Whitlow and Satterfield will advance to the Region 3 competition, which will be held on Feb. 24 at West Hall High School in the Fine Arts building.

"We wish Murphy and Carter the best of luck at region," the school district said in a release. "We know they will represent the district, North Hall Middle School, and their school and their families well!"
