One person was seriously injured after a multi-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon on Georgia 365 in Habersham County.

According to a press release from the Georgia State Patrol, the wreck happened at about 6:40 p.m. on GA 365 northbound near the roadway's intersection with Demorest Mount Airy Highway.

Betriz Ruiz, 33, of Mount Airy, was driving a silver Honda Accord sedan north on 365 when the vehicle ran out of gas and came to a stop in the right lane.

Ruiz's vehicle was then hit by a blue Honda Accord, causing the vehicle to drive into the left lane. A Toyota Rav4 which was traveling north on GA 365 in the left lane hit the silver Honda Accord as a result.

Finally, the Rav4 then rotated in front of a Chevrolet Equinox, causing the Equinox to hit the rear driver's side of the Rav4.

Ruiz was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. She was charged with improper stopping in the roadway.

Four other people suffered possible minor injuries but were not transported to the hospital.
