GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Forsyth rallied from a pair of early deficits in taking a huge 7-6 win over Cherokee Bluff at home on Tuesday.
The win kept the Lady Broncos (16-5, 13-1 Region 8-4A) was their seventh straight and kept them atop the region standings with just three region games left.
KK Benitez put Cherokee Bluff (13-10-1, 9-5 Region 8-4A) up 1-0 in the second with an RBI hit. East Forsyth scored four times in the bottom of the innings, highlighted by a two-run homer from Emma Smallwood.
The Lady Bears plated four in the third, thanks to three big East Forsyth errors. It stayed that way until the fifth, when the Lady Broncos scored four, with Smallwood adding to her RBI totals with a two-run double in the inning.
That was enough for Cadence Alberty, who gave up six runs ( just two earned) on seven hits and striking out six in a complete-game effort.
Payton Davis took the loss for Cherokee Bluff, allowing nine hits and walking two.
East Forsyth will travel to second-place North Oconee on Thursday.
NORTH HALL 7,
EAST HALL 2
The Lady Trojans used a 6-run third inning to erase an early deficit for a crucial Region 8-4A win at home.
The win kept North Hall (14-7, 8-6 Region 8-4A) within striking distance of fourth place, just one game behind Cherokee Bluff and Seckinger and one-half behind Walnut Grove.
East Hall (6-14, 3-11 Region 8-4A) led 2-0 after single runs in the second and third innings but could not get any thing else going offensively against reliever Emily Hlavacek, who went the final 4 2/3 innings allowing no runs on just three hits.
In the big third inning for North Hall, KB Seabolt drove in two on a double. Ashley Callahan also knocked in two runs in the inning.
Amari Burce took the loss for East Hall in the circle, but none of the seven runs were earned. Burce scattered five hits and fanned five in six innings.
