The Duluth Police Department is offering an area of the city's public safety building as a site for citizens to conduct safe in-person transactions.
A social media post by the department Sunday said a sign has been placed outside the parking lot of the building on Buford Highway designating it as a "Meetup Spot" for internet purchase exchanges.
"We understand that buying or selling something online, be it on Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, or any other type of buying/selling app, can be a bit intimidating," the post read.
Officials said the site will be monitored by video recording and anyone who still feels uneasy about meeting for the transaction can request an officer to be present by calling 770-476-4151.
The police department's lobby is also available for use for transactions according to the post.
