A high-speed chase turned foot chase in Banks County Friday concluded with two arrests and the recovery of a previously reported stolen vehicle.
Banks County Sheriff’s deputies received a flock camera alert Friday when a vehicle that was reported stolen entered the county. Deputies located the vehicle in the area of Yonah Homer Road at Rock Springs Road, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, according to spokesman Austin Bond.
The driver of the vehicle, Justin Sailors, 26, of Commerce, failed to yield for the traffic stop and fled “at a high rate of speed,” Bond said Saturday.
During the attempted escape, Sailors lost control of the vehicle while traveling on Peyton Road and crashed into a ditch near Sample Scales Road. Sailors and the passenger, Alisha Buice, 33, of Maysville, fled on foot in opposite directions, according to authorities.
Sailors was reportedly apprehended quickly, while a K9 team was deployed to search for Buice. She was found and both Buice and Sailors were placed under arrest.
They face charges of theft by receiving stolen property, fleeing and eluding, obstruction of justice and possession of marijuana, according to Bond.
