State officials have ruled that a Friday fire that destroyed a vehicle and damaged a nearby metal building in Rabun County was a case of arson.
A Wednesday release from the Georgia Office of the Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire said the fire happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, September 1. Commisioner John King said in the release that the fire was intially set to the vehicle, which was parked in front of the building on Green Street in Mountain City.
He said the fire then spread to the building.
“There was also an attempt to set a second vehicle at the property on fire and several other vehicles had their windows busted out," King said.
Officials are now looking for suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1-800-252-5804.
State officials said a reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
