Good News at Noon has partnered with the True Charity Initiative to host a workshop on effective charity practices that drive results specific to the Gainesville community.
The Foundations Workshop will center on “effective compassion for Gainesville and the surrounding area,” according to Good News at Noon Director Ken Gossage. The True Charity Initiative exists to champion the national movement of voluntary charity at the local level and aims to bring poverty-fighting experts together to outline the marks of effective giving coupled with philosophy and best practices.
Many of those who live in poverty are often caught in a generational cycle of dependency, Gossage said. The workshop plans to address the practicalities of relational, work-oriented care that is said to empower those in need. The seminar reportedly provides an opportunity for the local community to discuss poverty needs specific to Gainesville.
The Foundations Workshop will be held on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 751 Green Street. The cost will be $20 per person, which covers lunch and materials, such as a workbook for those in attendance.
