The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been requested to investigate an inmate's death in the White County Detention Center.
White County Sheriff Rick Kelley identified the inmate as Charles Anthony McLeroy, age 54, of Athens.
Sheriff Kelley said jail staff found McLeroy deceased in his bed around 5:45 AM Thursday morning. The cause of death is unknown at this time, said Kelley.
According to jail records, McLeroy was arrested Tuesday for a probation violation.
