CUMMING, Ga. — North Forsyth athletic director Scott Tilden announced on Wednesday that the Raiders will play Forsyth Central at Raider Valley on Friday.
Four weeks ago, that didn't seem possible.
The late July storm that rolled through the area destroyed the stadium's scoreboard, spreading glass across the field and leaving it unplayable.
The school immediately contacted Shaw Carpets out of Dalton for a solution, and four weeks later, Raider Valley has a new field to play on for the home opener against Forsyth Central on Friday. Kickoff has been set for 8 p.m.
"North Forsyth is thrilled to announce that Friday night's football game vs. Forsyth Central, originally scheduled to be played at East Forsyth, will now be played on Raider Valley," Tilden said. "We look forward to a huge crowd joining us for the annual Military Night celebration."
Originally, North Forsyth had plans to play at East Forsyth for the August 25 and September 8 home games.
