Four people were injured, including two young children, and a driver has been charged with driving under the influence after a two-vehicle wreck Saturday evening in Oakwood.

According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, the wreck happened at about 7:45 p.m. on Stephens Road.

The sheriff's office said Jennifer Lee Ramirez, 37, of Oakwood, was traveling north on Stephens Road near Raintree Trace when she crossed the center line and drove into oncoming traffic.

The driver of a Mazda RX-7, which was traveling southbound, swerved to avoid the crash but the two vehicles collided in the northbound lanes. The two male occupants of the Mazda, ages 16 and 63, were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Ramirez's two children, who were passengers in her vehicle, suffered visible injuries in the crash. However, the Hall County Sheriff's Office said the children were removed from the scene by another person before law enforcement and EMS arrived on scene.

The boys, ages 4 and 6, were later located by deputies with Ramirez's partner Daniel Wesley Casteel, 36, of Lawrenceville. They were then transported to Egleston Children's Hospital in Atlanta for treatment.

Ramirez was charged with a series of charges following the wreck, including the following:

Ramirez remained in the Hall County Jail as of Monday morning.

Casteel was booked into the Hall County Jail early Sunday morning on outstanding arrest warrants. He posted bond later that morning but now faces two counts of cruelty to children in the second degree for removing the boys from the accident scene.

Casteel is not in custody as of Monday morning.

Hall County Sheriff's Office public information officer B.J. Williams said the agency is investigating whether Casteel was called to the scene to get the children or if he was in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
