Police in Gainesville have arrested a Cleveland man on allegations that he was impersonating a police officer.
47-year old Dwayne Leon Whitmire of Cleveland is charged with felony impersonating a police officer, identity theft and misleading transmittal use of an official name, trade name, or legal seal, or copyrighted symbol over computer network.
Police say Whitemire created a fraudulent and distasteful dating account online depicting a Gainesville Police officers, while allegedly using the identity on a website to try and embarrass and discredit the police department.
