The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Thursday afternoon a Gainesville teenager was killed and a Gainesville man was critically injured after a shooting Wednesday night off Roy Parks Road.

B.J. Williams, public information officer with the Hall County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded just after 9 p.m. to the incident at a home in the 3000 block of Southchase Drive. Arriving deputies found a teenager dead and another person wounded outside of a shed on the property.

The teenager who was killed was identified as Paul Statham, Jr., 17, of Gainesville. He was shot multiple times. Statham's body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for autopsy. The man who was injured was identified as Tyrenskie Odem, 31. Odem suffered a single gunshot wound to the pelvic area and remains hospitalized as of early Thursday afternoon.

Investigators believe Statham arrived at the home and began arguing with Odem. Statham then allegedly produced a gun and fired at Odem, at which time a third person at the scene shot Statham, striking him and killing him.

The third person at the scene, whose name was not released, has cooperated with the investigation and has not been charged.

The investigation remains active.
