A man is facing charges and in critical condition after a SWAT investigation on Sunday in Forsyth County.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said a warrant was issued for the suspect after a domestic dispute which occurred early Sunday. The man is accused of trying to strangle a female victim.
Authorities confirmed the man to be a previously convicted felon and they also believe he was illegally in possession of one or more firearms.
The FCSO and SWAT negotiations team arrived at the home and began to negotiate the suspect's surrender but he refused to cooperate according to authorities.
Deputies claim to have heard a muffled gunshot in the home and immediately deployed a robot and later a K-9 deputy and his partner.
According to authorities, they found the suspect alive with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Forsyth County Sherrif's Office said no deputies discharged their firearms during the incident
Forsyth Fire and EMS provided aid to the suspect and they transported him to a local hospital in critical condition.
This incident and the initial dispute are under investigation. The suspect remains in the hospital and is charged with felony aggravated assault.
