New Gainesville restaurant ‘Hello Hilo’ opens its doors, offering Hawaiian cuisine

Posted 8:04PM on Monday 24th July 2023 ( 1 year ago )

Gainesville got a new restaurant Monday when Hawaiian eatery Hello Hilo opened its doors to the public, bringing the ‘Aloha Spirit’ to Northeast Georgia.

The Hawaiian-inspired restaurant is described as a fast-casual experience with a menu that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner in one stop. Additionally, the new location provides a kids menu, also known as a keiki menu, specialty drinks and an assortment of “signature baked goods only found at Hello Hilo.”

“Our ohana (team) is excited to share the Hello Hilo experience with the community," General Manager Hobbie Dubose said. “The restaurant is truly a one-of-a-kind destination that you have to see to believe, and the menu offers unique and delicious options for any occasion. We cannot wait for everyone to try it.”

Hello Hilo is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and offers drive-thru, dine-in and online ordering options.

The Hawaiian-themed restaurant was developed by the Taira family, who are the founders of King’s Hawaiian. In order to better serve the East Coast market, the Taira family opened a King’s Hawaiian bakery facility in Oakwood in 2010, which has reportedly provided over 300 jobs to local communities. 2020 marked the 70th anniversary of King’s Hawaiian.

Hello Hilo is named after the location where founder Robert R. Taira opened his first bakery over 70 years ago. Those interested in trying the new dining experience can find Hello Hilo at 1881 Jesse Jewell Parkway NE in Gainesville.
