SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Spencer Ralston eagled No. 18 to cap a solid 4-under par 68 on Thursday in the opening round of the Price Cutter Charity Championship at Highland Springs Country Club.
The former Gainesville High and Georgia standout sat at just 1-under par on the day after a bogey at the Par 3 13th. But he birdied the Par 4 16th and then chipped in for an eagle three on the Par 5 18th, jumping him 38 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 31st.
He began his round with a birdie on the Par 5 1st and birdied the Par 3 4th after a bogey following an errant chip on the Par 4 3rd. After six consecutive pars, he birdied No. 11 to move to 2-under at the time.
Ralston sits five shots behind leader Pierceson Coody, who fired a 9-under 63 on Thursday. He will tee off at 9:23 a.m. on No. 10 for Friday’s second round.
