No charges filed after Lawrenceville woman shot, killed by mother

Update July 12 12:30 p.m.:

Charges have not been filed after Gwinnett County police said a woman was reportedly shot and killed by her mother at a home in Lawrenceville Tuesday night.

A release from the Gwinnett County Police Department Tuesday afternoon said the woman who was killed, now identified as Treva Murray, age 47 of Lawrenceville, allegedly attacked her mother, leading to the shooting. The cause of the altercation is still under investigation.

Murray's body has been submitted for autopsy. The name of the shooter has not been released, but authorities did confirm it was Murray's mother.

Original story posted July 12 at 5:26 a.m.:

Gwinnett County Police Detectives are investigating an overnight shooting that claimed the life of one woman in Lawrenceville.

A release from Gwinnett County Police says they responded to the call of a person shot at around 8:45 p.m. along Spanish Moss Court in Lawrenceville.

Officers then found an adult female deceased from a gunshot wound. Police say the shooter remained on scene until officers arrived and was being interviewed overnight by Homicide Detectives.

Exact cause for the shooting has not been released and remains under full investigation.
