The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the Highway 17 end of Rennie Hames Road on Wednesday to replace a cross drain.
The other end of Rennie Hames Road will be open but drivers who use the route will need to enter and exit from the other end during the work.
The portion of the road is just west of Clarkesville and is near RJ’s Wrecker Service and close to three subdivisions.
Authorities expect a couple of hundred homes to be impacted by the closure and tell residents to plan accordingly.
