The Georgia Office of Commissioner of Insurance and Safety Fire announced Friday afternoon they were working to identify the culprit behind a recent arson in Jackson County.

According to a press release from the agency, the fire happened near U.S. 129 on June 12.

“At the time of the fire, the residence had been abandoned for several years and was not connected to any utilities,” said Commissioner John F. King. “The structure was inaccessible to responding fire officials and was burned to completion as a result."

Anyone with information on the fire should call the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1 (800) 252-5804.

A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.

The agency said it was working with the City of Jefferson Police and Fire Departments on the investigation.
