Gwinnett County police are asking the public to help them find a suspect they say shot a man outside a restaurant in Norcross two weeks ago.

Gwinnett County Police Sgt. Michelle Pihara said the incident happened at a restaurant on South Norcross Tucker Road just south of Jimmy Carter Boulevard at around 12:30 a.m. on June 6 when Carlos Alvear-Olive, age 44, allegedly inappropriately touched a woman and was escorted out of the building by another man.

Pihara said surveillance video showed the two getting into a verbal argument. Alvear-Olive began walking away before turning around, pulling a gun from his waistband and shooting the victim. The victim was found by police with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital with what authorities called serious, life-threatening injuries.

Alvear-Oliver fled the scene and his location is unknown at this time. Police officials said anyone with information on Alvear-Oliver's location is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives by calling 770-513-5300 or by submitting an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers Greater Atlanta.

Alvear-Oliver is facing charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and sexual battery. Pihara said he is also facing a charge of theft by receiving after some of his property that was recovered at the scene was found to be stolen.

The victim, who has not been identified, remains hospitalized in serious condition.
