Police in Gwinnett County are looking for two men they say stole a generator from a store at the Mall of Georgia in Buford last month.

Gwinnett County Police Public Information Officer Hideshi Valle said Tuesday that the incident happened on May 31 at the REI store in the mall. She said the two men were seen on surveillance video entering the store.

"One of the males was seen putting a generator into his shopping cart, then walking up to an employee and telling the employee that they had to return the generator," Valle said. "The employee advised him that they would need a receipt before they could return the item. The male then walked outside the store with the generator and loaded it into a white vehicle."

Valle said the other man allegedly took a belt from the store and walked out without paying for it. The two then drove away.

The first suspect is described as a white male with a tall, slim build and a beard. He was wearing a checkered shirt and white or tan pants at the time of the incident.

The second suspect is described as a white male with a beard and mustache. He was wearing a red checkered shirt with a red hat and glasses.

Anyone with information on either suspect is asked to contact Gwinnett County police detectives by calling 770-513-5300.
