DETROIT — Reese Olson was set to make his third start for the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday. And, it was supposed to come against his hometown team.

However, rains washed out Tuesday's matchup in Detroit and the game will now be made up on Wednesday as part of a doubleheader. The first game is set for 1:10 p.m. with Olson set to match up with Atlanta's Spencer Strider in the opening game.

Olson, a former North Hall standout pitcher, has looked sharp after being called up from the Tigers AAA-affiliate Toledo Mud Hens two weeks ago. He is posting a 2.70 ERA in 10 innings of work with nine strikeouts. However, he is still looking for his first Major League win.

He lost his MLB debut on June 2 but went five innings, allowing two runs on just two hits and one walk while striking out six against the Chicago White Sox. Against the Philadelphia Phillies six days later, Olson went five innings in relief, giving up one run on three hits and a walk and fanned three.

The Braves come into the game as one of the top offensive teams in the league. Atlanta is third in batting average (.263), fourth in home runs (109) and fifth in MLB in runs scored (339, 5.14 runs/game).

The Tigers have scored the fewest runs in MLB (229, 3.58 runs/game) so far this season.

Rain falls on Comerica Park during a weather delay before the Detroit Tigers- Atlanta Braves baseball game, Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in Detroit.
