Officers with the Cornelia Police Department were dispatched to a shots fired call on 1925 Joes way shortly after 2 p.m. on May 28.
Upon arrival Officers spoke with the victim who said that she was in a verbal dispute with Florencio Villagomez.
Villagomez then produced a handgun and fired one round at the feet of the victim, who was in close proximity to children in the dispute.
He then fled on foot towards the area of Hoyt St., where a two-hour search of the area was initially not successful.
After a week long search the Cornelia Police Facebook page on Friday showed Florencio Villagomez had turned himself over to Habersham County's detention center.
Villagomez, is in custody and is charged with one count aggravated assault and three counts of child cruelty.
