The Gwinnett County Police Department is working to identify a man who has committed multiple quick change thefts at Kroger locations along the east coast.

Over the last nine months, the suspect has reportedly been committing multiple quick change thefts at various Kroger locations along the eastern seaboard, according to Gwinnett County officials. The suspect has defrauded two separate Kroger locations in Gwinnett County, including the Loganville and Grayson stores.

The Kroger store at 910 Athens Highway in Loganville reported the incident earlier this year on Feb. 10. The store manager said the suspect entered the Kroger to make a money transfer of $2,958. The suspect handed the cash to a store associate, who counted it using a machine.

The suspect reportedly changed his mind and requested the money back, saying he did not want to complete the transfer, and the associate gave the cash back to the suspect. The suspect then changed his mind again and handed the money back to the store associate.

Unknown to the associate, the man handed a lesser amount back, according to police reports.

That is when the reported theft occurred. The associate did not count the money a second time and filled out a money transfer form for the full $2,958. The manager said by the time the theft was caught, it was too late and the transfer was finalized.

Detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify the man seen the pictures, provided courtesy of Kroger and police. They describe him as a white male with a full, dark beard, wearing a black leather jacket and a dark ball cap.

Those with information are encouraged to contact detectives at (770) 513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers at (404) 577-8477 or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com.
