An Atlanta man was killed in a wreck involving a box truck and tractor-trailer Wednesday morning on Ga. 365 in Hall County.
According to a preliminary report from the Georgia State Patrol, the wreck happened at about 3:47 a.m. near White Sulphur Road.
The agency said a large box truck was traveling north in the left lane of Ga. 365 and approaching a stopped tractor-trailer.
"The driver of the box truck swerved to the right to avoid striking the tractor-trailer but was unable to avoid the collision," the Georgia State Patrol report said.
The box truck then struck the right rear area of the trailer with its front end. The driver of the box truck, Fidell Deshun Lightfoot, 43, of Atlanta, was totally ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The State Patrol said they were unable to determine if Lightfoot was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident due to the extensive damage to the box truck.
