A Flowery Branch woman was charged Monday with murder following an investigation into the death of her 21-month-old son in February, according to Sheriff’s Office officials.

Gloria Neshee Stringer, 31, was charged with murder and child cruelty in the second degree after an investigation determined she allowed her baby, Jamari Stringer, access to cocaine and fentanyl, Spokeswoman BJ Williams said.

Sheriff’s Office officials began the investigation Feb. 1 after deputies responded to a call at a home off Oliver Road.

“They were called to investigate a cardiac arrest report,” Williams said. “[Deputies] didn’t know exactly what they would find when they got there, but Hall County Fire and EMS were there giving CPR to a 21-month-old little boy,” she said.

Jamari was then transported to a local area hospital and then taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, where he later died. The baby’s body was then transported to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and his death was ruled a homicide, Williams said.

Gloria Stringer was arrested Monday in Buford with assistance from the Gwinnett County Police Department Community Response Team and was transported to the Hall County Jail, where she remains.

The Hall County Department of Family and Children Services also assisted in the investigation, Williams said.
