Plant lovers can now enjoy a stroll through Lula’s newest retail garden center and outdoor showroom, Ruby’s Farm.

Ruby’s Farm is located on Hwy 52 off of Cornelia Hwy at 5662 Cemetery Rd in Lula.

Mark Cohea, President and CEO of Ruby’s Farm, said he named the farm after Ruby Butler, a previous owner of the property who grew her own produce.  Ruby’s old home is now used as the farm’s gift shop, which also houses a variety of succulents.

“We bought the place four years ago.  We were going to open the garden center, but then chaos hit across the world,” Cohea said.

The farm offers a collection of popular plants you might see at big box retail stores.  However, general manager and designer for Ruby’s Farm, Christine Flood said she also incorporates other unique plants you won’t find just anywhere.

“I've got some really cool petunias that change colors that have been very popular,” she said, “All of my daylilies and irises are double blooming, so you'll get multiple blooms throughout the season.”

Ruby’s Farm is not just a flower garden.  It is a subsidiary of ‘Landscape Design Company,’ a residential and commercial landscape installation business.

Cohea said his team will complete design assessments at people’s homes.  The farm also serves as an outdoor showroom for potential landscaping customers and is a place to get advice and ideas for those “Do-it-yourself” folks.

“They can come here and walk around and see some of the stuff that we actually do, like putting greens we have up here at our outlet or showroom.,”  Cohea said.  “We can replicate your favorite hole.”

Cohea’s future plans at the farm include expanding the landscaping showroom and nursery to include botanical trails, christmas trees and a pumpkin patch, which he said will be ready this fall.  He also hopes to incorporate wine tasting and event space later down the road.

The garden center will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
