A Buford man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for selling fentanyl after he pleaded guilty to the distribution of a controlled substance on July 13, 2022.
According to a press release from the U.S. Attorney's Office, Northern District of Georgia, Jamerris Head, 39, will also spend five years on supervised release after his time in prison.
Officials said Head sold fentanyl on several occasions between April and August 2021 to an undercover law enforcement officer.
Authorities seized approximately one kilogram of fentanyl, in both pill and powder form, along with two firearms at the time of his arrest.
“Fentanyl has claimed too many lives, especially from our youth,” said U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan. “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners for working hard to prevent this deadly drug from claiming more lives in accidental overdoses.”
The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Keen prosecuted the case.
