Governor Brian Kemp has announced a number of appointments and recommendations to nearly 60 state organizational positions, boards and commissions, including one in Northeast Georgia.

A release from the governor's office this week says Governor Kemp recommends Charles Burton for Executive Director of the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority and North Georgia Mountains Authority.

Burton has over 34 years of experience managing resort properties and currently serves as General Manager of Brasstown Valley Resort & Spa. He has also previously worked with Amicalola Falls State Park & Lodge and Unicoi State Park & Lodge as a Regional Manager.

The release adds that Burton also served in the United States Marine Corp Reserve for six years and was on active duty during Operation Desert Storm.

The recommendation is subject to board approval.
