ALPHARETTA, Ga. — After scoring 21 runs in its first two games against King’s Ridge in their Class A Division 1 second round playoff series, the Commerce bats were silenced by Luke Hill on Friday.
The junior righthander tossed a one-hitter and struck out four in leading King’s Ridge to a 6-0 win over Commerce in a deciding game three.
Coy Argo pitched well for Commerce, going 5 2/3 innings but three big errors contributed to a pair of three-run innings in the third and sixth. Only three of King’s Ridge runs were earned.
Cohen Thomason had the lone Commerce hit in the first. They had chances but could not get much momentum going at the plate. The Tigers managed just two more baserunners the rest of the way.
“We had some opportunities early, we didn't execute, you know. That's baseball,” Commerce coach Steve Cotrell said.
Commerce finished the season 14-21.
