After coming up one game short of playing for a state title in 2022, the Towns County girls will finally get their shot on Tuesday to take that one final step.

The Lady Indians  will take on Aquinas out of Augusta on Tuesday at McEachern High School for the Class A Division 2 state title. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.

It will be a rematch of an earlier Area 3 showdown that the Fightin' Irish (13-0) won 3-1 in Augusta back on March 10. On the surface, that may spell trouble for the Lady Indians (8-5-1). However, they knocked off another fellow Area 3 foe, Lake Oconee Academy, 1-0 in the semifinals last week. LOA had beaten Towns County 3-0 back in March as well.

Towns County has won six straight and outscored its opposition 39-4 in that span. No. 1-ranked Aquinas has been dominating all season, outscoring opponents 88-6 on the season.

The Lady Indians are not the only girls team still left.

Lanier Christian (13-3) is still alive in the GAPPS Class 2A payoffs after a 2-0 win over St. John Bosco Academy last week. The Lady Lightning also will hit the road on Tuesday against against Konos Academy (11-0) out of Fayetteville.
