Two teams begin their 2023 postseason while two others will play do-or-die Game 3s to stay alive as baseball playoffs in the Georgia High School Association and GIAA continue on Monday.
Flowery Branch in GHSA Class 6A and Lakeview Academy in GIAA Class 3A open best-of-three series on the road. Cherokee Bluff and East Forsyth, both in Class 4A in the GHSA, face tough Game 3s on the road.
Branch had its second round Class 5A series with Centennial moved to Monday after rains last week caused Centennial's field to be unplayable on Saturday. The Falcons will hold first pitch at 4 p.m.
Bluff, ranked No. 1 heading into the final week of the regular season, split with Lovett in Atlanta while East Forsyth also split with Holy Innocents' in Kennesaw. The Bears will start at 6 p.m. and the Broncos will begin at 5 p.m. first pitches.
Meanwhile, Commerce in Class A Division 1 and Towns County in Class A Division 1 were able to advance through over the weekend. Buford in Class 7A and North Forsyth in Class 6A both were swept out in the second round. Lanier Christian was knocked out in the opening round of the GAPPS playoffs.
